This week, Indiana University School of Public Health – Bloomington faculty members Dr. Carrie Docherty and Dr. Katie Grove will receive the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association (GLATA) Outstanding Educator Award during the organization’s 49th annual meeting. Drs. Docherty and Grove both teach courses in and oversee various aspects of the athletic training programs at the school.
The Outstanding Educator Award is given to those “who have significantly contributed to the education of GLATA members through academic presentations, published manuscripts or editorials, educational program development, or other educational activities,” according to GLATA.
Dr. Docherty is an associate professor and director of the Post Professional Athletic Training Program at IU Bloomington. In addition, she serves as interim associate dean for community and global engagement. Dr. Docherty is a fellow of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Dr. Grove is a clinical professor and director of the Professional Athletic Training program at the IU Bloomington. In addition, she serves as the Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies IU Bloomington’s kinesiology department. Dr. Grove has been inducted into the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame, has received the GLATA Golden Pinnacle Award and is in the Indiana Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame.
The athletic training programs at IU Bloomington are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education.
