Dr. Celine Gounder, an alumna of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, recently launched a weekly podcast focusing on the coronavirus outbreak, now officially a pandemic. The podcast is co-hosted by Ron Klain, the U.S. Ebola czar from 2014 to 2015.
Dr. Gounder, an infectious disease specialist and epidemiologist who has worked on tuberculosis and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in sub-Saharan Africa, was an Ebola worker during the West African epidemic. She received her master of science degree from the Bloomberg School in 2000.
The podcast, called EPIDEMIC, was highlighted this past week in a podcast roundup by New York magazine, which noted: “If you wish to go deeper into the science and public policy angle of the COVID-19 phenomenon, look no further than this podcast from an infectious disease specialist and the former U.S. Ebola czar. They may not be radio professionals, but that doesn’t matter when they’re actual experts.”Friday Letter Submission, Publish on March 20
