In the latest episode of the American Health Podcast, Baltimore youth leaders discuss the challenges and promise of adolescence, that critical period during which young people explore their identities, form new relationships, and lay the groundwork for their future health and well-being. Yet adolescents can find themselves overlooked in terms of resources and opportunities, their needs not met by policymakers and decision makers. The featured panel, “The Voice of Youth in Baltimore,” took place during the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg American Health Summit, an annual convening of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative, in Baltimore on November 12 and 13. After the panel discussion, the podcast includes a music performance by Baltimore musician Young Elder.
The American Health Podcast is created by the Bloomberg American Health Initiative, a project of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The Initiative works to tackle some of the most pressing challenges to health in the U.S.: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, adolescent health, and violence.Friday Letter Submission, Publish on December 27
