Dr. Alice Mann, an alumna of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, received the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Award for Women’s Health from the National Organization for Women (NOW) on July 19 at NOW’s annual conference. Dr. Mann received an MPH from the Bloomberg School in 2016.
Dr. Mann, the only physician currently serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives, was elected in 2016. Since her election she has made health care reform a top priority. She decided to run for office after working at a Syrian refugee camp in Greece and helping with recovery efforts in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Dr. Mann has been the primary author on 22 bills and co-authored another 135 bills, many of which have centered around issues of health, and women’s health. Dr. Mann attended Meharry Medical School in Nashville, TN, and completed a family practice residency at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse, WI.Tags: Friday Letter Submission, Publish on July 26
