Dr. Andrew Pekosz, professor in the department of molecular microbiology and immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has been elected president of the American Society for Virology. His one-year term begins on July 18, 2018 and ends at the society’s 2019 Annual Meeting which will be held at the University of Minnesota. In addition to planning the scientific agenda for the 2019 annual meeting, Dr. Pekosz will promote training, mentoring and communication opportunities for graduate students and early career scientists.
The American Society for Virology promotes exchange of information and stimulates discussion and collaboration among virologists.
Dr. Pekosz’ research interests are focused on understanding how respiratory viruses such as influenza replicate and cause disease.
