Johns Hopkins Faculty to Chair National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s New Environmental Health Matters Initiative

Dr. Thomas Burke, Jacob I. and Irene B. Fabrikant Chair and professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health will chair the advisory board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s new Environmental Health Matters Initiative. The advisory board will develop a strategic plan for the initiative and guidance on implementation. Dr. Burke served as deputy assistant administrator of Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development during the Obama administration. His research interests include environmental epidemiology and surveillance, evaluation of population exposures to environmental pollutants, assessment and communication of environmental risks, and application of epidemiology and health risk assessment to public policy.
