Johns Hopkins: Women’s History Month: Biostats Faculty Honored by Amstat News’ “Celebrating Women in Statistics and Data Science”

Two faculty members, Dr. Karen Bandeen-Roche, Hurley Dorrier Professor and Chair in Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Dr. Stephanie Hicks, assistant professor in the Bloomberg School’s Department of Biostatistics, are featured in Amstat News’ recent “Celebrating Women in Statistics and Data Science” piece in honor of Women’s History Month. Amstat News is the membership magazine of the American Statistical Association (ASA).

“Celebrating Women in Statistics and Data Science” includes more than 20 ASA women who work in statistics and data science. The list also features some trailblazers, such as Florence Nightingale. These women were selected by Amstat News because they inspired and influenced other women in their field.

The piece includes accompanying bios in which Dr. Bandeen-Roche and Dr. Hicks recount how they became interested in statistics as undergraduates and career highlights.
