Kentucky and the PHSSR Hosts Free Webinar Series for Coordinating Center Grantees

The University of Kentucky College of Public Health & the National Coordinating Center for Public Health Services & Systems Research (PHSSR) and Practice-Based Research Networks (PBRNs) will be hosting a free webinar series for coordinating center grantees to share their preliminary research findings. Dr. Kaja Abbas from from the Department of Population Health Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University will present on Thursday, August 27 from 12-1 pm, ET. Dr. Abbas will discuss his study, Rural Health: Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Fungal Meningitis Outbreak in New River Health District. The study objective is to conduct an economic evaluation from the local public health department perspective of the fungal meningitis outbreak response in New River Valley of Virginia. The local health department expenditure is estimated to be $30,493 and 100.52 years of disability adjusted life years were averted among the patients, for an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of $303 per disability adjusted life year averted. Commentary will be provided by Dr. Kerry Redican, from the Department of Population Health Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and Dr. Molly O’Dell, director of the New River Health District in Virginia.
