Kentucky: Elder Issues and LGBTQ Barriers To Care In Rural Communities

Mr. Aaron Guest, a PhD candidate in gerontology at the University of Kentucky College of Public Health recently spoke to National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate station WUKY for an episode of  “On Medicine“.

“One of the ongoing medical challenges in our state is delivering quality care for patients who don’t live anywhere near a major metropolitan area of the commonwealth,” writes WUKY host Dr. Greg Davis in his introduction to the episode. “Now imagine if you’re LGBTQ [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning] in a rural county and need to find a doctor or pharmacist.  What sort of barriers might you face?”
