University of Kentucky College of Public Health professor, Dr. David Mannino, has been honored by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) as a fellow of the ERS for his contributions to research, clinical leadership, and education in respiratory medicine. Dr. Mannino was one of only 125 researchers and clinicians around the world chosen for inclusion in the inaugural class of fellows. His selection in the group was based on his previous record and sustained contribution to research in the respiratory field.
The fellowship is an elite group of respiratory professionals around the globe who are making profound contributions in their field. The fellows act as an advisory body for the ERS, which is the leading professional organization in its field in Europe, with over 10,000 members in over 100 countries. Dr. Mannino was announced as a member of the Fellowship at the Society’s International Congress in Munich, Germany on September 6.
At UK, Dr. Mannino is the chair of the department of preventive medicine and environmental health in the College of Public Health and a professor of medicine in the division of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
