Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Public Health has appointed Dr. Dean Smith as dean, effective June 1, 2015.
Dr. Smith is currently a professor in the department of health management and policy and director of executive education and lifelong learning at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He is the chair of the MHealthy Advisory Committee, the University’s umbrella organization for health and wellness programs, chair of the University’s Pharmacy Benefit Oversight Committee and a member of the Medical Benefits Advisory Committee. He is committed to a line of teaching and research that helps to provide a better understanding of the financial aspects of working with and working in health care delivery and financing organizations.
With Dr. Smith’s academic leadership, record of enhancing educational opportunities and vision he is an exceptional fit for the LSUHSC School of Public Health.
Interim Dean Richard Culbertson will work closely with Dr. Dean Smith during the transition and, who will resume his director position in Health Policy and Systems Management program here at the School of Public Health.
