Dr. Shervin Assari, a research investigator with the University of Michigan School of Public Health in the Department of Psychiatry, will guest edit a special issue for the journal HealthCare. The issue will highlight the latest research on the mechanisms by which race, gender, class and place cause health disparities.

The released call for the special issue, “Health Effects of Race, Gender, Class, and Place: Complexities and Heterogeneities,” invites state-of-the-art original and review studies:
Dr. Assari is an elected Fellow of the Society for Behavioral Medicine (SBM) and New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM). He has chaired committees for American Academy of Health Behavior (AAHB) and American College of Epidemiology (ACE). He is currently the president of Scientific Association for Public Health in Iran (SAPHIR).
