Mr. Peter Jacobson, professor of health law and policy at the University of Michigan SPH, is the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award from the American Public Health Association (APHA).

The award is granted annually by the American Public Health Association’s Law Section to an individual who, over the course of his or her career, has made significant contributions to the field of public health law. The individual’s contributions should span at least two of the following areas: research, teaching and mentoring, practice and advocacy. To be eligible for this award, the winner must have completed his or her terminal degree more than 30 years earlier. Professor Jacobson will be formally recognized at the APHA annual meeting in Denver on October 31.
