Michigan Study Finds Overuse of Blood Transfusions Increases Infection Risk

Increasing blood transfusions leads to greater risk of infection, a new study from the University of Michigan School of Public Health found. The study involved a collaboration of researchers including Dr. Kenneth Langa, professor of health management and policy, and epidemiology alumna Ms. Latoya Kuhn. The researchers analyzed 21 randomized control trials for the study that appears in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
