University of Minnesota School of Public Health assistant professor Dr. Tetyana Shippee received the Senior Service America, Inc. Senior Scholar Award for Research Related to Disadvantaged Older Adults.

The Senior Scholar Award acknowledges outstanding applied research that advances knowledge and understanding of the capabilities, contributions, challenges, and concerns of disadvantaged older adults, especially those who are low-income and minority group members.
In June 2015, Dr. Shippee was awarded fellow status with the Gerontological Society of America. GSA fellowship is the highest class of membership and is an acknowledgement of outstanding and continuing work in the field of gerontology.
