Dr. Laura Magaña, president and chief executive officer of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, delivered the keynote address at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health’s Commencement Ceremony on May 20 in Minneapolis. In her address, Dr. Magaña discussed her student experiences; the calling of public health; the significant contributions of the school; the future of the field and more.
“You should never underestimate your ability and persistence to transform the status quo,” said Dr. Magaña. “The changes might take time, but it is with small actions that we eventually change the larger reality.
The School of Public Health, which celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2019, graduated 408 students from 21 countries, adding to the more than 11,000 alumni transforming health worldwide.Friday Letter Submission, Publish on June 14
