The National Board of Public Health Examiners is seeking self-nominations for vacancies on NBPHE Board of Directors. Candidates with a CPH are preferred. Candidates who tested under the work eligibility/pilot criteria are especially encouraged to apply.
NBPHE works to ensure that public health professionals have mastered the foundational knowledge and skills relevant to contemporary public health by administering a voluntary certification exam and maintenance of certification program. The board of directors is comprised of individuals representing both public health practice and academia who are dedicated to the professionalization of public health.
Board members are elected to a four-year term and may be re-elected for a second term. Each board member is expected to attend board meetings which are held once a month by phone, once a year in person and at other times on an ad hoc basis. NBPHE board members are also expected to serve on at least one committee. The current roster of NBPHE committees includes: Finance and Audit, Testing, Governance, and Maintenance of Certification. Committees meet by phone as often as needed but typically no more than four times a year.
Nominations should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and should include a CV/resume as well as a letter of interest. Interested candidates should describe why they are interested in joining the NBPHE board of directors as well as the contributions they believe they can make to improving and advancing the CPH.
