New 10 Essential Public Health Services + Request to Update Textbooks

Colleagues at the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) are pleased to announce the recent revision of the 10 Essential Public Health Services (EPHS) and accompanying toolkit and are seeking your assistance in updating textbooks. PHAB has been working with the de Beaumont Foundation on the Futures Initiative on this effort with a task force of public health leaders, experts, and practitioners, including Dean Donna Petersen (South Florida), to best reflect public health trends, as well as current and future public health practice. Now that the revision of the 10 EPHS framework is complete, their goal is to advocate, advance, and ensure tomorrow’s public health leaders are prepared with the knowledge needed to contribute to the field. To do so, your assistance is sought to identify textbooks that may need to be updated to align with the new 10 EPHS.

This form will gather textbook information to reach out and provide publishers with the current 10 EPHS details that should be updated in future editions of textbooks. The form has a Friday, February 5 deadline for submission.

Questions about the 10 EPHS or its update can go to Jessica Solomon Fisher (
