New Global Health MPH Concentration Competencies

ASPPH’s Global Health Committee led a two-year initiative to develop the just-released Global Health Concentration Competencies for the Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree.  Thanks to the 88% of ASPPH-member schools and programs who contributed to a baseline survey that helped form the foundation for early competency drafts and to Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) members for also participating in a companion survey. The new concentration competencies offer examples, vetted in a national and global participatory process, that schools and programs could consider, for voluntary use, to fulfill the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) requirements for “at least five distinct competencies for each concentration.” Stay tuned for a toolkit and webinar in the fall to assist faculty in implementing the competencies.

While the 2016 CEPH core competency requirements for MPH degrees rendered ASPPH’s 2011 global health competency model obsolete, it is still available, here, for reference.
