Dr. Jack Caravanos, a Clinical Professor of Environmental Public Health Sciences with New York University College of Global Public Health, was recently elected to the Board of The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).
ACGIH is a professional association dedicated to industrial hygiene, occupational and environmental health, and community safety. According to ACGIH’s website, the Board of Directors is composed of distinguished individuals who aim to provide “cutting-edge information to government, academia, and corporate facilities” around the world.
Dr. Caravanos has shown throughout his career that he is dedicated to the causes championed by ACGIH. Along with teaching environmental health for graduate students and Environmental Health in a Global World for undergraduate students at NYU’s College of Global Public Health, Dr. Caravanos has also worked in low- and middle-income countries to provide solutions for pollution problems and safer gold mining practices in these areas. His work has taken place in Zambia, Indonesia, Bolivia, Ghana, and more.
