Oklahoma Student Receives NIDA Grant

Ms. Dana Mowls, doctoral candidate in epidemiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, has been awarded a National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) grant to complete her dissertation work titled “Nicotine Metabolism in American Indian Smokers and Electronic Cigarette Users.” Her research will provide critical information needed to better tailor smoking cessation interventions for American Indians and, separately, for guiding US Food and Drug Administration regulations on combustible cigarettes and electronic cigarettes. Ms. Mowl’s overarching career goal is to conduct research that eliminates tobacco-related morbidity and mortality, and she is ecstatic to have NIDA support her endeavors.
