Ms. Mary Willis, has received a Pre-Doctoral Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Fellowship (F31) from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
Ms. Willis, who is a doctoral candidate at the Oregon State College of Public Health and Human Sciences environmental and 0ccupational health program, will work with co-sponsors Dr. Perry Hystad and Dr. Melissa Haendel to research “environmental data integration to assess impacts of shale gas development (SGD) on perinatal health outcomes and childhood cancers.”
The study will use data from a large retrospective birth cohort to establish a better understanding of how emerging environmental health hazards such as SGD are affecting local communities.
