Dr. Nicole C. Wright, assistant professor in the department of epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham – along with department colleague Dr. Elizabeth S. Delzell, professor, as well as Dr. Kenneth G. Saag, professor, and Dr. Jeffrey R. Curtis, associate professor, in the division of clinical immunology and rheumatology – estimated the prevalence of osteoporosis and low bone mass based on bone mineral density (BMD) at the femoral neck and the lumbar spine in adults 50 years and older in the United States.
