Penn State: Faculty Awarded Grant for Opioid Research About State Policies Regarding Pregnant Women

A faculty member from Penn State College of Medicine’s Department of Public Health Sciences received a grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to study the effects of state policies regarding the treatment of pregnant women with an opioid-use disorder.

AHRQ, which is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awarded Dr. Douglas Leslie, professor and Division Chief for Health Services and Behavioral Research, $394,819 for research on the effects of state policies on opioid use disorders in pregnant women. The three-year study will examine prevalence, treatment and outcomes. The project period is through June 2022 and includes researchers from Penn State campuses in Hershey and University Park.
