Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Center Webinar: Improving Systems that Serve Vulnerable Populations Before, During and After Disasters

July 23, 2014 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm

While personal preparedness is a laudable goal for everyone, vulnerable populations most often lack the resources needed to achieve this goal. For that reason, it is especially important for systems that serve vulnerable populations be assessed pre-impact for their ability to provide post-impact services. This assessment can identify gaps and opportunities for improvement so that systems can be better prepared to retain the ability to provide services, including meeting the surge for service requests that occur post-impact. The webinar will address these issues. Following the presentation, participants should be able to explain the importance of system preparedness prior to an event or incident, discuss the various approaches to gain situational awareness of system readiness and to identify gaps and points of failure in these systems prior to an event or incident, and review possible solutions for addressing gaps in system readiness.

Participants must register in advance. Please click here to register for the free webinar. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email with details on how to join the webinar. There will be time at the end of the presentation for attendees to ask questions. Eligible attendees may receive 1 Certified in Public Health (CPH) continuing education credit for participating in the webinar.
