1.       In one sentence, what is public health to you?

Public health is population health as seen through the lens of a diverse field tied to many disciplines including social, laboratory, and mathematical sciences.

2.       What inspired you to study public health?

Laboratory research is my first love but I wanted to do more with people and not just with cells and DNA, and epidemiology wound up being an excellent fit.

3.       What has been the single most rewarding experience of your career/studies so far?

Some of my research work getting published!

4.       What is the one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you were starting out in public health?

I wish someone had told me to get in as much networking as possible!

5.       What do you think is the biggest challenge that the public health field should be focusing on?

Public health should be focusing on advocacy on behalf of vulnerable and underserved populations.
