Public health is the overall protection of population health by implementing comprehensive and multidisciplinary approaches that focus on prevention.
I was introduced to public health through my studies in environmental science. My interests in public health program development grew as the health intern for UW-Madison’s Sustainability Initiative.
I have felt rewarded when I see the connections between my studies and the real life applications. It is rewarding to see how my efforts in the classroom will be used to make real changes.
How broad the field was and the varied skills needed. Looking back I realized that much of my extracurriculars had public health focuses and were directing me toward a career in public health!
