In a recent article in Public Health Reports, Dr. Daniel P. Kidder and Mr. Thomas J. Chapel of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention highlighted the historic path that the CDC has followed to encourage the use of evaluation of public health programs. Evaluation practices and policies are identified for other organizations to replicate. The challenges of using evaluation are also highlighted. The authors concluded that the goal for CDC is to continue integrating evaluation and constant program improvement into both its internal and funded programs from start to finish.
