University of Nevada, Reno’s chapter of the National Honor Society in Public Health, Delta Phi, held its first annual induction and student poster presentation ceremony on Friday, March 30. To be included in the presentation ceremony, undergraduate and graduate students submitted abstracts for original Public Health research and were selected based on merit. Once selected, the abstracts were judged at the induction ceremony by faculty members, Dr. Sung-Yeon Park, Dr. Kristen Clements-Nolle, and Dr. Paul Deveruex. This year, Delta Omega selected graduate student, Ms. Cordelia A. Alexander-Leeder’s abstract entitled: “Effects of Mental Health Exposure Factors on the Prevalence of Postpartum Depression: A Nevada Statewide Population-Based Study” as well as undergraduate students, Mr. Omar Kamal, Mr. Hanao Li, and assistant professors, Dr. Mihye Ahn, and Dr. So Young Ryu’s abstract “Predicting Mortality for Traumatic Brain Injury Patients”. Ms. Alexander-Leeder’s abstract will be submitted to the national Delta Omega student research competition that will be held at the APHA national conference.
