Rutgers: Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Participates in Competitive Pedagogy Certificate Program

Rutgers School of Public Health associate dean for academic affairs, Dr. Laura Liang, was one of sixty faculty members from Rutgers University to participate and earn a Certificate in Effective Instruction from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE).

ACUE’s “Effective Teaching Practices” is an online course, which offers a comprehensive exploration of scientifically-vetted teaching methods. The course consists of twenty-five modules that are separated into five units of study: Designing an Effective Course and Class; Establishing a Productive Learning Environment; Using Active Learning Techniques; Promoting Higher Order Thinking; and Assessing to Inform Instruction and Promote Learning.

“It was an honor to be selected to participate in this course,” says Dr. Liang. “I am already implementing my new skills in the development of the Rutgers School of Public Health’s online courses.
