Rutgers School of Public Health dean, Dr. Perry N. Halkitis, was quoted in the New York Times on the latest software update to the Grindr app, which will offer HIV testing reminders.

Grindr, the world’s largest gay dating app that boasts 3.3 million daily users, is changing its software to include reminders for its users to get tested for HIV and other STDs. The update will also provide users with the location of the nearest testing site. “This will ‘demedicalize’ testing and destigmatize it,” Dr. Halkitis said. “The more you make it normal, the more people are going to access it.”
