Dr. Susan M. Kiene, a professor of global health in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at San Diego State University School of Public Health, has been named an associate editor of the journal AIDS and Behavior. Throughout her career, Dr. Kiene has committed towards improving sexual, maternal, and child health, as well as overall advancements in healthcare delivery. Dr. Kiene’s research focus is on developing and testing sustainable community-based public health interventions implemented at individual, group, and community levels. Much of Dr. Kiene’s research focuses on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), substance use, and family planning in sub-Saharan Africa where she has been conducting HIV research for more than 15 years.
Her research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2004. Dr. Kiene has brought great efforts to the communities being served–all in the direction of health equity.Tags: Friday Letter Submission, Publish on February 28
