Earlier this week, the Public Health National Center for Innovations (PHNCI) and the De Beaumont Foundation, hosted a meeting to continue planning for a new workforce initiative, “Staffing Up: Determining Public Health Workforce Levels Needed to Serve the Nation.” The goal of the initiative is to develop recommendations for staffing levels in the governmental public health system in the United States.
Drs. Laura Magaña, ASPPH President and CEO, and Paul Halverson (UIPUI) represented ASPPH in the working session, along with ASPPH staff member Ms. Allison Foster who represented the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE). The focus of this meeting was to determine the measurements and outputs that will be most useful for the final recommendations.
Updates will be provided periodically as this important initiative develops.
