University at Albany School of Public Health alumna, Dr. Asante Shipp Hilts, DrPH (2016), MPH (2010), has had her dissertation work published in a special Hurricane Sandy issue of the journal Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness. Dr. Shipp Hilts served as the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) project coordinator for the two-year CDC-funded research project to evaluate the public health response to Hurricane Sandy. She is currently the project coordinator for NYSDOH as one of 18 CDC-funded Climate-Ready States & Cities Initiative (CRSCI) grants related to Building Resilience Against Climate Effects (BRACE).
