SUNY Downstate: A Real-world Evaluation of a Tertiary Care Childhood Obesity Intervention to Reduce Metabolic Risk in a Hard-to-reach Urban Population

A team of SUNY Downstate Medical Center School of Public Health Researchers  as published evidence of efficacy of a community-engaged tertiary care childhood obesity program called Live Light Live Right (LLLR) which has served a hard to reach, severely obese child population in Central Brooklyn for over 18 years.  The study, led by Dr. Nagla Bayoumi, found that participation in LLLR for a minimum of 12 consecutive months led to significant improvements in body mass index (BMI) metrics, blood pressure, and lipid levels.
