Dr. Jay Maddock, has been named Chief Wellness Officer by Texas A&M University. In this role, Dr. Maddock will lead the Flourish program, a comprehensive strength-based approach initiative to improve the health and well-being of the University’s 9,000 staff and faculty members. Most recently, Dr. Maddock has been interviewed by multiple media outlets on the new Texas A&M System policy of banning all tobacco use, including vaping, by the end of the year on all system campuses.
Dr. Maddock is internationally recognized for his research in social ecological approaches to increasing physical activity. He has served as principal investigator on more than $18 million in extramural funding and is an author of more than 100 scientific articles. He served as dean of the Texas A&M School of Public Health for four years.
