The Touro University – California (TUC) MPH Program is pleased to announce the expansion of the Social Justice in Public Health Fellowships to prospective students who have submitted their applications in SOPHAS (Schools of Public Health Application Service). The fellowships, which are funded by the TUC Diversity Scholarship Fund, are available to incoming students who have previous and/or current experience in community service and engagement, particularly with respect to social determinants of health such as race, income, and education.
The purpose of the Social Justice in Public Health Fellowship award is to recognize students who demonstrate a deep commitment to building leadership and advocacy skills toward the promotion of health among vulnerable populations. As part of this fellowship, students will also become part of a social justice student leadership team that will actively participate in furthering the social justice mission of the Public Health Program.
Social Justice Fellows will be involved in the organizing/planning of the annual TUC MPH Social Justice in Public Health Lecture Series and be student member representatives on the Public Health Program Community Advisory Board.
Additional criteria includes full-time enrollment in the Public Health Program (PHP) for the fall 2020 term, financial need and a minimum GPA of 2.75. Application deadline is March 15, 2020.
