Mr. Mario Garner, a 2004 alumnus of the Master of Healthcare Administration program at Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, has been tapped to receive the Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for the Young Healthcare Executive of the Year.
Mr. Garner is the president and CEO of New Orleans East Hospital in New Orleans. The award is given to an exceptional health care executive who is younger than 40 years old, a fellow of ACHE, and holds a CEO or COO position in a health care organization. Mr. Garner will receive the award during ACHE’s fifty-eighth Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago.
New Orleans East had been without a full-service hospital since Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Mr. Garner was named CEO of the hospital during its construction in 2013, and the hospital opened its doors in 2014.
