Tulane Dean Elected to Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium

Dean Pierre Buekens, of the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, has been elected as a Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium. The Royal Academy was created in Belgium in 1841. Members are drawn from a broad range of fields in both human and animal medicine, with 100 permanent and ordinary members and up to 100 “foreign” or corresponding members. More than 50 Nobel Prize laureates have been members of the Royal Academy along the course of its history.
