Dean Thomas LaVeist announced recently that Dr. Patricia (Patty) Kissinger will become associate dean for faculty affairs and development at the Tulane University of School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, effective August 1. This new dean position, he said, was created to strengthen and expand faculty affairs of the school.
Dr. Kissinger earned her bachelor of science in nursing from Marquette University, then a master of public health and her doctorate from Tulane in epidemiology. She was promoted to professor in the Department of Epidemiology in 2004 and has mentored dozens of faculty throughout the years. She has been a member of school’s Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee since 2004, becoming chair of the committee in 2017. Dr. Kissinger also served as chair of the Dean’s Research Council since 2012. She was elected to represent the school on the University Senate for 2017-19, serving on the Faculty Handbook Committee, Intellectual Property Committee, and the president’s advisory committee during this time.
“Patty brings a wealth of enthusiasm and energy to this new role, and I am confident that under her leadership we will expand the quality and depth of faculty initiatives offered by the school,” Dean LaVeist said in the announcement.Tags: Friday Letter Submission, Publish on August 16
