UAB Examines Association between Candidate Genes and Obesity in European Americans

Candidate genes in pathways related to food intake and energy expenditure were tested for association with body mass index (BMI) by Mr. Peng Li, graduate student trainee in the department of biostatistics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and his MS mentor Dr. Nianjun Liu, associate professor in the department of biostatistics, along with colleagues that include Dr. Hemant Tiwari, professor in the department of biostatistics; Dr. Nengjun Yi, professor of public health in the department of biostatistics; and Dr. David B. Allison, associate dean for science at the School of Public Health.
