UIC: Center for Healthy Work Authors Policy Brief on Paid Sick Leave as Effective COVID-19 Treatment

Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health’s Center for Healthy Work reported on the challenges toward paid sick leave in the United States at a time when avoiding crowded workplaces is an imperative.  They write that while general media messages have focused on the economic impact of workers missing work, these narratives have failed to capture the economic impact of the exponential number of workers who could be infected and thus miss more work time.

The analysis examines bills at the state and federal level to cover workers who currently do not have paid sick leave and offers recommendations to employers on preparing their workplaces for COVID-19.
