In recognition of Public Health Thank You Day, the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health will hold a noontime event on November 21 to highlight the many public health contributions made each day by our students, faculty and staff members, and community partners. Organized by Ms. Jessica Southwell, research associate at the Gillings School’s North Carolina Institute for Public Health, the celebration will include a number of activities, such as writing thank-you letters to public health professionals, participating in a social media campaign, and sharing “then and now” images from our archives that show how research has led to changes in public health practice. A yoga instructor will lead the group in a short class, and exhibits will describe various ways the Gillings School community can continue to be part of a ‘Culture of Health,’ both physically and psychologically. Members of the School community and others will be honored for their efforts – from practica to research to service – in improving the public’s health.
