Research, along with education and service, is a vital part of our mission at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Public Health. Through innovative, interdisciplinary research we are able to better understand the forces that affect public health, and we use that knowledge to improve the health of the communities in Nebraska, the nation, and the world.
In support of this mission, the following faculty recently received UNMC Innovation Fund Pilot Research Grants:
- Dr. Azar Abadi, received an Innovation Fund Pilot Research Grant entitled “Understanding the Relationship Between Drought and Adult Suicide in Nebraska.”
- Dr. Chandran Achutan, received an Innovation Fund Pilot Research Grant entitled “Integrating Wearable Sensors in Firefighter Suits to Prevent Heat-Related Illnesses.”
- Dr. Aaron Yoder, received an Innovation Fund Pilot Research Grant entitled “Creating an asynchronous online continuing education course designed for rural practitioners and educators focused on health and safety threats related to flooding and mental health in agricultural communities.”
- Dr. Jesse Bell, received an Innovation Fund Small Project Grant entitled “Exploring the Relationship between Heatwaves and Cardiovascular Problems in Omaha, Nebraska.”
- Dr. Chandran Achutan, received an Innovation Fund Small Project Grant entitled “Lead Exposure in Omaha Childcare Centers.”
