Mr. Amit Kumar, a PhD/MPH student at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston won three awards at the fifty-fifth Annual National Student Research Forum (NSRF). At the NSRF, students from across the country and abroad present their research in the areas of basic sciences, clinical sciences, biomedical sciences, public health, and medical humanities. Mr. Kumar won Best Oral Presentation in Public Health and received third place overall for Outstanding Oral Presentation. He also received the Hispanic Center of Excellence Award for research focused on the Hispanic population. His presentation was entitled “The Effect of Obesity on Incidence of Disability and Mortality in Older Mexican Adults”.
