Doctoral student in epidemiology, Ms. Jennifer Matas, at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health, is a recipient of the National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) 2019 Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship. Only 20 health professional students from across the country are selected for this scholarship.
In addition to the scholarship, Ms. Matas will be recognized at the 12th annual California Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Gala in Los Angeles. This gala will also recognize the current Hispanic Health Leadership Awardees who create change for healthcare in the Hispanic community.
“I am very excited to represent our school and the public health discipline,” said Ms. Matas.
The Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program was the first national scholarship program targeted at Hispanic students who are committed to careers in health care ± medicine, nursing, dentistry, public health, health management and policy analysis, health research, and allied health.
