UTHealth Faculty Member Named Editor-in-chief of Workplace Health & Safety Journal

Dr. Lisa Pompeii, a fellow of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses and associate professor at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health in Houston, has been named editor-in-chief of the Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) journal. The journal is the official publication of the American Association for Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN). Dr. Pompeii began serving in this position in January 2018.

“Dr. Pompeii brings a wealth of knowledge to the position and we are looking forward to the new ideas she has for journal enhancements,” says Ms. Kaye Englebrecht, executive director of AAOHN. “We know that she will continue to elevate the reputation of WH&S and we fully support her in this endeavor.”

WH&S is a peer-reviewed, monthly journal, which supports and promotes the practice of occupational and environmental health nursing by providing leading-edge research findings and evidence-based clinical practices. It publishes articles that span the range of issues facing occupational and environmental health professionals, including emergency and all-hazard preparedness, health promotion, workplace safety, environmental health, case management, workers’ compensation, business and leadership, compliance and information management. This journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Read more about the journal.

Dr. Pompeii is an associate professor in the department of epidemiology, genetics, and environmental sciences, and a member of the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research and the Southwest Center for Environmental and Occupational Health at UTHealth School of Public Health. Dr. Pompeii earned a master’s degree in occupational health nursing and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health.
