Wash U Pinpoints Gaps in Health Understanding by the Uninsured

Many of the 50 million Americans without health insurance have begun signing up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). But improvements need to be made to help the uninsured understand the plans and choose a good insurance option, a new study from researchers from the School of Medicine and the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis have found. The study, undertaken before the ACA’s insurance exchanges went into effect, is one of the first to examine uninsured individuals’ health insurance knowledge and preferences. It was published online October 24 by Medical Care Research and Review.
