Researchers have identified strong genetic relationships between major cancers, using data from some of the largest genome-wide association studies of cancer to date. Dr. Sara Lindström, assistant professor of epidemiology at the University of Washington School of Public Health, was a senior author. Several other Washington authors took part.
The study, published in Nature Communications, confirms a link between lung and head/neck cancers and show for the first time a significant shared genetic basis between breast and ovarian cancer.
