Washington Study Highlights Lack of Awareness of ‘Good Samaritan’ Overdose Law

Few Seattle police officers and paramedics knew about a Good Samaritan drug overdose law a year after it was enacted, and those who did had mixed opinions about it, according to a study led by a University of Washington School of Public Health researcher. The survey results led the police department to create a video to educate patrol officers; it’s now used in other public health efforts to prevent opiate overdose deaths.
